Erectile dysfunction, or male impotence, is a topic that is in the news on a fairly regular basis. The reason is yet unknown, but it seems that the number of men suffering from erectile dysfunction is on the rise. Erectile dysfunction is the medical terminology used to describe a man who cannot achieve or maintain an erection that is capable of allowing him to have sexual intercourse. Although this problem affects men in their 60’s, it can happen at any age. Illness or injury could be some of the physical causes of Erectile dysfunction, and psychological problems stemming from relationship problems or even depression can render a man impotent. It can be embarrassing and uncomfortable for a man to seek help in regard to Erectile dysfunction, but the good news is that there is help out there. Due to possible side effects some men will shy away from the prescription drugs available to treat the problem of Impotence. Many tout the benefits of herbal remedies but one must also keep in mind that these are unregulated by the FDA. There is no accurate way to determine how much is too much or how much is too little. You may be on other prescription drugs for health reason that will prohibit your use of herbs, so please discuss this with your doctor. If medications or herbs are not for you due the lack of success with them, and all else has failed there is the Erectile dysfunction or ed pump and the penis pump. These devices will consist of an acrylic tube and some type of pumping mechanism such as a squeeze ball or a hand grip. As air is pumped out of the acrylic tube the vacuum will increase the blood flow to the erectile tissue. The man would then slide a constriction ring to the base of the penis which maintains the erection when the tube is removed. Another name for this device is the vacuum constriction device. As with most anything there are some side effects from the use of penis pumps though most men are satisfied with the results. These side effects may include a penis that is purplish in color and can be numb or cold. There can be some bruising on the shaft of the penis that is usually painless and disappears in a few days. A decrease in ejaculate may also be noted do to the constriction band but this poses no danger. |
