Prostate cancer is a dangerous cancer affecting males in their 50’s and older that develops slowly and has the potential to spread throughout the body infecting other organs and vital tissues. While treatable in its early stages, and oftentimes curable, prostate cancer in its advanced stages is unable to be treated once its spread to other parts of the body. It’s important to recognize the signs of this cancer, and sometimes can be quite difficult as it usually lays dormant or in a state of very slow growth being somewhat undetectable. There are several signs of prostate cancer that, when noticed, should be told to a doctor so treatment can begin as soon as possible. Unfortunately, there are no ways to tell if a male has early forms of prostate cancer, as there are no symptoms or warning signs. However, once the cancer has spread throughout the body or the prostate has swelled due to a tumor, there are several warning signs. Once prostate cancer has advanced there are several symptoms that a man will have alerting to the growth and possible spreading of this cancer. Needing to urinate frequently, pain while urinating or ejaculating, a weak stream or interrupted stream, and difficulty controlling the starting and stopping of urination are several signs that indicate prostate cancer has developed. Also, if a man sees blood in their urine or semen there is a possibility they have prostate cancer. If the prostate cancer has developed into much more advanced stages, there are several signs that indicate it’s reached this point. Loss of appetite, losing weight, feeling fatigue, nausea and even vomiting are signs of developed cancer development. Swelling of the lower extremities and the presence of deep pain are also signs, and all of these symptoms should be communicated to a doctor to ensure proper and timely treatment. |
