Is Impotence All In Your Head? |
|
When faced with Impotence, consistent erectile dysfunction (ED), men become frustrated or feel humiliated. Because it is a complex process, the failure to achieve a sustainable erection can have many causes. Though a majority of medical professionals at one time believed the problem was purely psychological, only about fifteen to twenty percent of Impotence can be attributed to psychological causes. If a medical explanation is ruled out, determining the cause of Impotence (chronic Erectile dysfunction) will require an in-depth study of all other aspects of a man’s life. Stress, fatigue, and high alcohol intake can hinder a man’s sexual response. If any of those three are chronic, a man may suffer a period of Impotence. Severe cases of alcohol or drug abuse is said to bring on a sort of “male menopause,” in which a man will become unable to perform sexually until the abuse is discontinued. Depression and emotional trauma can cause a reversible form of Impotence, as well. Some men, because they feel defeated or worthless, psychologically drain the energy they would ordinarily put into their sex life. Other men, traumatized by watching the birth of their first child, can’t think of anything else when visualizing that part of the female anatomy, rendering themselves impotent. Another psychological cause of Impotence is malfunction in the relationship between a man and his wife. Boredom, lack of physical attraction, and lack of imagination are all detrimental to a man’s erectile function. Couples, who routinely watch TV until late in the evening, rarely feel anything, much less sexually aroused, when they finally get into bed. Making time to be intimate may be a surprisingly simple solution. Mechanical devices like penis pumps (ED pumps) may have a place in overcoming Impotence, if it is not used as a replacement for intimacy. All male/female relationships have low points. Sometimes the key will be in directing attention to the relationship, with an eye toward sparking the wife’s interest so that she will desire to be attractive to him. Other times, it may mean applying creative genius at home rather than spending it all at work. |
